This early tipless light bulb uses a butt stem seal which hides the exhaust tip within the base. There is a small glass rod which acts as a filament support since this bulb lacks a conventional stem structure. This construction of concealing the tip was quite difficult and expensive in its day. This bulb has a two piece Thomson Houston type base that is plaster secured to the glass envelope. |
