The plaster filled base is very short and identical to those used on ca.1884 Edison lamps. The filament is a typical “U” shape but has two carbon paste weld joints on the platinum lead-in wires. There is no glass stem but rather two glass pipes protruding from the base which form a round pinch that supports each leg of the filament. Carl Seel patented a process for producing a homogeneous silk filament in 1888. |
