United States design patent #86,245 was granted to Gotthilf Lehmann on February 2nd, 1932 for the design of this particular glowing emblem lamp. Lehmann also patented the design for the German made Masonic emblem lamp shown elsewhere in the OSA category
Lehmann sued the Aerolux Light Corporation on May 1st, 1941 in a New York District Court for infringing on his design patents for both the Masonic emblem lamp and the Crucifix lamp. Aerolux refuted the case and argued that Lehmann’s two design patents were not valid to begin with since they allegedly “lacked invention”. The case was dismissed. |
