This particular switch is known as a ceiling rosette with a side pull switch employing a cleat type base. Originally, a lamp cord and socket were meant to be suspended from this switch, hence the insulating bushing in the switch body. The NEC banned these switches around 1940-1950. The last patent date on this particular switch is 1907. |
