There are at least two (if not more) documented versions of the “genuine” Thomson-Houston lamp socket that all exhibit a similar appearance on the outside. The inner switch mechanisms varied, and it is thought this particular socket was the last generation made because of the use of porcelain opposed to the red fiber used in earlier sockets. This changeover occurred around 1891-1892, right before the Thomson-Houston merged with Edison to form General Electric. |
