Diehl induction incandescent lamp. Caption card reads: “On March 26, 1882, Philip Diehl obtained the first patent on his induction incandescent lamp. Mr. Diehl’s rights to his lamp were bought by the Westinghouse Company and used by them to break the Edison monopoly. This forced the Edison patent holders to considerably reduce manufacturers who braved bankruptcy by undertaking the production of the Edison electric lamp.” |
