have you already removed the existing socket or can you remove it? that would be where i would start. I have also seen where people will convert a royal santa from holding a bubble light to holding a bottlebrush tree and light it from the inside using a premade cord used in porcelin villages, but if it was a true bubble light santa i would personally keep it holding its lamp. I just bought one this year and it looks like the socket may be difficult to remove form the unit itself, and once removed would requre a shell type socket instead of the newer tab type sockets as it would have to fit into the original opening unless it were modified.
