I have my Christmas lights up but did not post re this as there is nothing remarkable about them.
Almost all LED, home modified to run from 12 volts DC. Very cheap sets intended to work from 3 AA cells. I wire 3 such sets in series on 12 volts.
Yet to do is a retro set of large outdoor lights. Intended to use 15 watt 240 volt clear pygmy lamps under coloured plastic covers. Too much piggery of electricity, not terribly safe, and the lamps don't last long.
I shall fit 1 watt, 12 volt LED bulbs instead, in colours to match the plastic covers. The 1 watt LEDs give more light and in better, more vibrant colours. 20 watts instead of 300 watts.
