Hi All,
I use old figural bulbs in my old lamps and would like the know the best way to extend their life besides not turning them on.
Someone use to make a disk that went in the socket under the bulb to extend their life. Did they work and can you still get them?

Hi Jack:
The best way to save them, but still burn them is to reduce the voltage. I have used the buttons, or a half wave rectifier diode to cut the voltage in half.

Of course, they do not burn as bright, but you can still enjoy them nicely.

Byron, Thanks for the information. I checked out the site and it looks good. In the description under technical data it says"- Do not re-use, Use a new bulb" any idea what that means? I really don't have a clue about the converting to pulsating DC either but I guess that's OK. Regards,Jack

Jack,
They have you use some sticky tape that is on one side of the button. I guess they don't want you to be removing them and trying to reattach them to another bulb, but maybe you can I'm not sure.
