FEIT "The Original" reproduction bulbs
« on: November 16, 2011, 01:01:26 pm »
Spotted these at our local Home Depot, $8 for the Small looped one, $10 for the caged filament, Both are 60W/120V, 1500h lifetime.

Hi,

We have had these bulbs in UK for some time, but don't know if they are still available, they were being sold by B&Q the lookalike DIY store to Home Depot in US. There is an entry on this forum enitled "where to get this unusual bulb" and there's much info as to who makes these, I would think they're the same as the European ones marketed by Paulmann and Philips. They were imitation carbon filament, but actually a normal filament made to look like one. A squirrel cage version was also available, but without the false tip.

These modern cage lamps were used originally as lanterns on ships, but were later used in outside lamps for the house made by Noral. Also I think that production in England has ceased, but they are obviously still being made in Germany or Switzerland.

I just bought one of these and I think they did a good job with them.  Just a little pricy!

These bulbs seem to have disappeared from the shelves at our local Home Depot. Are they still available anywhere else?

Funny you say that, because they're here now and have been for a few months.

Quick update, seems they hadn't disappeared, but got moved over (and up) a shelf, both still available in the HD at Batesville, AR.
