Unusual GE Tungar Rectifying 'Lamp'

I picked this up for cheap at a local fleamarket a few weeks ago and I would like to know a little more about it. I know how to connect it in circuit to convert DC to AC but I don't know what kind of voltage it takes.  The guy I bought this one from had 4 others, 2 mugol base ones identical to this one and 2 candelabra base ones that had an exhaust tip protruding on one side. I picked this one because it was the only one that still had an intact filament and had any chance of working.

The filaments in Tungar bulbs of this type generally run around one to two volts and operate at a high amperage - somewhere around 15 amps if memory serves...
