Unusual GE Tungar Rectifying 'Lamp'
« on: November 09, 2008, 11:46:08 pm »
I picked this up for cheap at a local fleamarket a few weeks ago and I would like to know a little more about it. I know how to connect it in circuit to convert DC to AC but I don't know what kind of voltage it takes.  The guy I bought this one from had 4 others, 2 mugol base ones identical to this one and 2 candelabra base ones that had an exhaust tip protruding on one side. I picked this one because it was the only one that still had an intact filament and had any chance of working.  :-D

The filaments in Tungar bulbs of this type generally run around one to two volts and operate at a high amperage - somewhere around 15 amps if memory serves...
