Inner workings of a HYLO lamp
« on: May 24, 2004, 05:28:00 pm »
I came across this one, a neat look at the inner workings of the high-low switch in one of these lamps:

Inner workings of a HYLO lamp

Hi Tim!
Very cool pics of this switch!
It resembles to me the well known "Dim-A-Light" dimmer, the same as I've in use for many years to dim the 220-230V safety red light of my photo dark room.
Best regards.

Inner workings of a HYLO lamp

I have a completely dud HYLO bulb which has an ok base from around 1900 (porcelain insulated). Both filaments and the tip are gone, so it's worthless now. I was thinking about the possibility of using its base to fix a HYLO bulb like the one on that auction you mentioned. I would send this bulb to anyone who needed it for this, as long as they pay the shipping.

BTW that's the 3rd baseless HYLO bulb I have seen on eBay. There was another one a few months ago, item #3281763666.
