“Bizarre” can be used to describe this multi-filament figural lamp. The lower half is made of blue colored glass and is inside frosted. This envelope houses a tungsten filament rated at approximately 60 watts or so. When the lower half is lit, the intent is for general illumination. The upper half of this lamp is comprised of several miniature exhaust tipped lamps that are very reminiscent of Edison pear-shaped Christmas lamps from decades past. Each tipped lamp is surrounded by a plastic flower. The visual effect is quite unusual, if not a little gaudy. These smaller lamps can be lit independently from the lower section by varying the amount of engagement in the lamp socket. Partially inserting the lamp into the socket causes the upper flowers to light, while more engagement into the socket causes the lower section to light. This is accomplished by a spring contact on the bottom of the lamp’s base. |
