Title: fluorescent bulb recycling

anybody know if fluorescents have to be recycled in California

Afraid I'm not sure on that one...if you can find a way to recycle them, is always a good idea though.

Company here have a nice system for it.  Have seen one of these things in operation too...most impressive!  (not to mention entirely too much fun).

Afraid they're in the UK...might be something similar over there though.

how can they crush the lamps without them exploding :-D

Well, technically they implode, as the atmosphere inside all these lamps is below atmospheric pressure...

Doesn't really matter if they do in/explode though, as they're enclosed in an extremely thick metal housing when they get crushed (to keep prying fingers out as much as flying glass in).
