Dear Stan
The same thing happened to most of Spanish lamp factories during the last twenty years.
Most of these brands that went out of bussines were a higly reputed lamp manufacturers, but regrettably today there  are surviving no more than 3 or 4 of them. One of the most important Spanish lamp manufacturers was "Metal Mazda", based in Madrid. They made a wide range of high quality lamps of all kinds (incandescent, HID, fluorescent) but inexplicably they closed in early 80's.
Another lost lamp manufacturer was "ECA" based in Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) mainly dedicated to make speciality and miniature lamps.
The list are very extensive: "Elva", "Corona", "Persam", "Excel", "Nacional", "Haye", "Wagner", "Tor-Fer" to quote only some of them.
Fortunately, today we have one of the worldwide acknowledged lamp manufacturers, called "LAES S.A." specialized on decorative incandescent and halogen lamps. I hope they can be on business for many years!
Best regards
