Title: Type S-1 Clear Sun Lamp Information
Post by: Old Lighting on December 06, 2002, 02:59:00 pm
There is a Type S-1 Clear Sun Lamp I want to buy and looking for peoples thoughts on what one of these bulbs are worth? I have never seen one come up forsale and I assume they must be quite rare. Would love to hear from anyone whom can fill me in on this as I would like to buy this bulb soon.

The clear S-1 Sunlamp is definitely rare; I have only seen one sold on eBay. They were only made during the first year, and because of complaints of glare, the following year they were replaced by inside frosted S-1 lamps, and these are much more common. Did you know that the S-1 lamps operate at 400 watts?

Anyway speaking of the value of the bulb, I would expect that it would set you back for hundreds of dollars. That particular bulb I just mentioned sold for between $200-300 I believe. If you feel it is worth the amount to buy that particular lamp, then you should go for it. Speaking of the rarity of this bulb, I know of very few in private collections. Good luck!
