Can anyone believe it? Check your figural bulbs for "Abe Lincoln"!!!

Here's a picture of the bulb before it disappears on the listing:

YOWZA!
I've been mostly ignoring figural bulbs and don't even own any, because IMO they're almost all ugly and cheesy-looking. Now after looking at this Lincoln bulb, it does appear to have been well made and highly detailed, though suffering somewhat the ravages of Time.
Is this style really so rare as to be worth the amount bid, even in that cosmetic condition, to say nothing of its (unknown - assumed to be bad) electrical condition?
BTW, for additional surprise value, look at the bid history. The last two bids were identical and both entered mere seconds before the auction end! Ebay tip: when attempting to snipe like that, don't use round figures. Adding a few odd cents can win a surprising number of bidding duels.

I have to admit I agree.

Rumor has it this is only the second one known to exist. Can any Christmas people back me up on this? As far as working condition, I don't think this affects the value too much regarding figural bulbs (obviously!) Is it really worth $6,000? Well, it was to the two people who fought over it (http://www.bulbcollector.com/ubb/wink.gif)

Oh my (http://www.bulbcollector.com/ubb/eek.gif)
I`m with you guys regarding figurral bulbs. Well, I do like the simple plain shapes- lanterns, cones, diamonds, that sort of thing. The ones you`d get a full boxed set of. But the rest are not for me.
I know of the two who fought over that lot. Both are big players in the vintage christmas collectibles market- Bob Iwamasa (who won it) is world renound for his expertise in the subject of figural bulbs and has written a couple books on them. I can only imagine they both went a bit silly in the closing seconds, both keen to be the owners of such a rarity. Nice to see it go to someone who`s absolutely guaranteed to appreciate it- may even go in his next book?
I do think he`s mad though!

How much you suppose it was worth when it was new? how much does one suppose it costed back in the year it was made? and is there more than one?
