I have several heating elements called Glocoils-a ceramic cone with a Edison base at the "peak" of the cone, and a heating element wrapped around the cone. It's listed as a 220volt coil. I suspect it's for those old sattelite-dish shaped space heaters of the '30's and '40's,but I'm not sure. I have a few, some made by Eagle Electric, the other by a company called Rodale. I fished them out of the trash a few years ago. They're new,and still in the box.I've fired up one(on 110) and it got just a bit too hot to touch, but not red hot. Any ideas on these things?

They are indeed heater coils for the dish-shaped heaters. They don't seem to have much value except if you want to fit up your heater.
The only interesting fact I have about these is that the General Electric heater elements have a left-hand thread. That makes it harder to find a replacement. I went through the few coils I have and sure enough, one is left handed.
