Title: Unidentified bulb

Hi all - I am a new member - though I've been a collector for about 30 years!  I have kind of re-discovered my hobby recently and decided to start cataloging.  My problem is with a Mazda bulb marked as 115v 20w 995-5222(4?) for which I cannot find any information anywhere (well, not on Google anyway!!) It is 75mm x 25mm with a bayonet cap.  Any ideas from anyone else in lamp-land?!  Thanks, Dave.

This is a single ended tubular lamp used for general service applications.  The reference number on the base should actually be 996(not 995) -5222 and this is just a stock number used by the UK Ministry of Defence.  So it was a lamp manufactured for sale to the MoD.  It looks as though it dates to the later 1960s, in which case it would have been made at the factory of Thorn Lighting in Preston, North of England.  Thorn was the owner of the Mazda brand name at that time.  These SE tubular lamps with the U-shaped filament were quite popular and made in UK until 1994.  Today they are replaced by an equivalent type having the same tubular bulb shape but a simple compact filament as used in general service lamps.
