Post by: Kiwi on June 26, 2008, 04:38:09 am
Hi all. Im just looking for a bit of info on this item ive had for about 20years. I think its a Pencil the type you load with lead rods or it could be a pen.

Any ideas and also any ideas on the age of it.

Thanks.

Hi - welcome to the forum!

Interesting item.  I'm not an expert on mechanical pencils but maybe I can help in dating the item.  Based on this old posting (http://bulbcollector.com/forum/index.php?topic=477.0), it should be safe to assume that the item dates between 1928 and 1958.  Yes, it doesn't narrow the range much but it's better than nothing :)

If this is a mechanical pencil then there should be some way to advance the lead as the lead wears, either automatically by clicking or twisting on part of unit, or freeing the grip on the lead to release and advance it manually.  It?s hard to know without having it in-hand to examine the mechanics of it.
