Which bulb should I use?
« on: November 13, 2009, 03:55:06 pm »
Hello,
As you might be able to tell from my name, i love to invent things in my spare time away from work (in the post office - plenty of spare time on my hands at the moment). I like to see myself as a bit of a mad scientist but i guess im just a bit of a nerd really!

Anyway, I recently used a new varnish on my wooden decking out back which has given it a really nice finish. It has however, attracted a host of feline menaces (cats)...My mother has suggested I brutalize one in front of the others, to let them know its my way or the highway! However I am an animal lover and thought that might be a little cruel. The concept of using fear, however, tantalized the inventor inside me.

This is where the bulbs come in. I have fashioned a suit (a onesie) that is covered from head to toe in bulbs, and plugs in to any british plug socket. My intention is to sneak out in the middle of the night while the cats are hanging about, flick my switch and erupt in to a figure of light (similar to the spaceship at the end of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The shock of this wouldnt hurt them as my mother suggested (unless it prompts a pre-existing cardiac abnormality), but would ideally traumatise them to the extent that they leave my bloody decking alone!

Ive almost finished the suit, using normal lightbulbs to line the body. However i would like an extra special, large bulb to cover my face below the eyes. Are there any bulbs that would be easy enough to connect to my circuit, possibly shaped like a human head?

Also do you know of any companies that would be interested in my design, should the suit work?

Thanks everyone,
Dave

I think you've been listening to too much Pink Floyd my friend.

Thanks for the laugh Dave, now back to our regularly scheduled forum.......
