Antique Bulb Discussion / Can you identify this bulb?
« Last post by timmc on January 20, 2019, 06:23:08 pm »
About 10 years ago we found a box of old bulbs in a storage unit.  We don't have any information on them, but we did sell a couple on ebay.  Someone mentioned that they may be switchboard lights, but I haven't seen any switchboard bulbs that look like these.

They have a number printed on the glass (I pulled out a few and saw 300 and 500 printed on them).   At the base on the metal, there is a handwritten number (different numbers).  Can anyone 'enlighten' me as to what these are and if they may have any current value?  We'd be truly grateful.

Hello All!

Excited to be on this forum that shares the joys of bringing light into the world.

I am currently in need of someone who is able to create custom light bulbs.
Specifically, a silicon carbide based light bulb to conduct experiments with at home.

If available to speak on the topic or point me in the direction of someone who can help, please message or email me and I will go over the project in more detail.

Thank you so much, I hope I am in the right place.

-Kavon

Christmas Lighting / Large 900 Series Matchless Star Rebulbing Service
« Last post by zozman on January 03, 2019, 11:15:18 am »
Hello Group.

I have been collecting the large 900 series 1930s Matchless Stars for years. I have had collegues ask me how to rebulb them. I mean how can you enjoy them if they're not illuminated? After years of painstaking search, I found a manufacturing facility which can supply me with the correct wattage bulb to relamp these stars.

It's important to know that I am in favor or keeping things as they were in antique Christmas lighting. The bulbs that I have had made are similar in structure, diameter, color temperature and wattage to keep your large Matchless Stars operating.

Because this rebulbing requires several hours of service with the utmost attention to detail to keep each star original in appearance, I can do each at $25 with free return shipping. I would not need the crystal for my service. Those can be detached and kept by the qowner. All I would need is the ring base.

I can be reached with a PM or at zozman50@hotmail.com

Antique Bulb Discussion / Re: Looking for information on antique GE bulb
« Last post by Alexander on January 01, 2019, 04:57:27 pm »
Hello
Thst is an old mercury suntain lamp. It has a low voltage high current heating filament. That filament is ballasted. A mercury discharge will start.

I think your lamp is from the 30s.

For more information look here: http://www.lamptech.co.uk/Spec%20Sheets/D%20MC%20GE%20S2.htm

Best regards Alex

Antique Bulb Discussion / Looking for information on antique GE bulb
« Last post by Rks0908 on December 31, 2018, 08:04:46 pm »
I have had this GE bulb for about 20 years but I know very little about it.  I looked up the history of the GE logo trying to figure out how old it was and I think it is from the early 1900's based on the small open loop in the script "E", but I am not positive. It has metal covering the bowl of the bulb and there is a small amount of liquid mercury inside. If anyone knows more about it please let me know. I would also be interested in the value of this bulb in today's collector market.  I have searched and searched and I cannot find any information or even a picture of a similar bulb online.  Although admittedly I may just be looking in the wrong places or using the wrong search terms.
