Title: Our 2011 Christmas Tree!
Post by: Tim on December 04, 2011, 09:17:02 pm
We dumped the LED strings we traditionally use in favor of vintage lights this year.  These are series burning miniature based strings of mainly vintage bubble lights including my (one and only) oiler, a few Matchless Wonder Stars, Reliance stars & rosettes, Glo-Lite candle lamps, a Noma lighted cross, etc.  The strings are all running off a Variac set to about 60 volts to reduce heat and prolong the life of the lamps.  These lamps have so much more character than the LEDs we have used in years past.  The kids especially love them!

The red star in the second pic, what sort is it? I have a white one needing a bulb, but do not know what sort of bulb it takes.

EDIT: See now that it's a Reliance Rosette. Have a white one with no bulb in it.
