Antique Lamp in need of Bulb
« on: July 16, 2008, 09:41:15 pm »
Hi, I just received this lamp, it is pretty neat, but the bulb size is huge, I can't find one to fit anywhere.  Are y'all familiar with these. I think the base where you screw it in would be 2 inches.  If anyone has a bulb that would fit, please let me know. Thanks Ray Ray

Hi,

Check you local big-box hardware retailers like Lowes, Home Depot, etc. and see if they have any mogul based bulbs.  I suspect that you will need a mogul based 3-way bulb, which should be available at such a store.  Amazon has them too, but they aren't cheap.  Click Here.

If you dont need the three way capability of the mogul socket you could get a mogul to edison base adapter then you could use any type of edison based bulb including CFL's. We ahave a torchier with a mogul socket that has a mogul to edison base adapter and we use a CFL bulb and it works great, then you dont have to worry about finding a mogul base bulb. You can often find the adapter at local hardware stores, but if you want a mogul base  three way bulb i have found them at big lots before. From the looks of your picture it looks as if you may be missing the glass shade which would have slipped into the metal shroud around the socket. You can find these on ebay and at some lamp stores. this web site specializes in torchier shades

and here is a like to a website selling a mogul to edison base adapter
