Post by: ALM on July 23, 2004, 08:22:00 am
Does anyone know who bulbguy is? ?Or... if he posts here? ?Poor fellow got shilled on an auction - 2257526684.

Be sure to bid carefully and monitor those bidding against you.

EDIT: Corrected auction number.

Looks like it was pulled before it ended.  Are you referring to 2257526684?  If so then what's your proof?  I'm not doubting you for one second but if you have evidence then you should contact eBay about any questionable behavior.  Bidders also need to exert common sense when choosing who to purchase from on eBay.

Caveat emptor!

I know not whereof you speak!

That said... while several of the shiller's IDs were taken care of, there are still a couple of other user IDs that were overlooked... but I'm sure eBay will correct that as expeditiously.

At the risk of sounding like a non-response... it's whatever the market will bear.  And when the market doesn't bear what a greedy seller would like to obtain, he uses one of his other (many) IDs to bid up the price of the item.

I've heard that the user in question does that and sometimes does it in conjunction with another Ebayer to artificially inflate the prices of antiques every now and again.

I personally can't substantiate it, but I assure you that I have it on good authority.

"Scarecepuppylurker" (a known alias) is still active and I'm very suspicious of "lotsofcash*sniper!" (I'll bet anything).

The only consolation is that none of us can take it with us when we go ;-)

The first is now gone... and the second is not long for the Ebay world, either... but I'm sure whoever it is will be back in full force in no time...
