Any ideas on this old TH bulb?
« on: November 07, 2005, 06:28:44 pm »
Hi group: I was hoping to get some help figuring out the possible manufacturer of my bulb.
It sure has the look of an oldie. The plaster in the base, the stem is quite crude, the single hairpin filament and the shape of the glass.
I can not find any markings on the bulb to help, but I tend to date it in the late 1880's (?)
It is in great shape with glass that is so clear that it seems unused. The filament is intact.
Here is a link to the pictures, there is a next and previous option at the bottom to see the four pictures.

Hi Byron,

The distinguishing shape of your lamp's envelope, the abnormally narrow neck where it exits the base, and the "Y" shaped stem supporting the filament are all features often attributed to lamps made by Mather-Perkins.  This assumption is made by many collectors, but I don't have any old literature to prove or disprove this.  I believe that you are correct about the lamp's age.  It's a nice early lamp and a great find!
