Title: Help ID this anyone?

Sooo I have never seen a light bulb with what appears to have been hand soldered, solid wire filament and a hole in it. Does anyone have an idea what in the world this was used for? For the record, it still works, and it gets SUPER HOT, really quick. Thanks so much in advance for any information you can provide!!! I have pictures but this forum wont allow me to post them, too large I guess. Will send if anyone is interested.
