My apologies for posting pictures here and not keeping my galleries on the main site updated. Someday I?ll get motivated to update the website (http://www.bulbcollector.com/ubb/smile.gif) In the meantime? Here is a picture of a recent addition that might be interesting to others. From what I?ve learned from searching the net, the Italian Alessandro Cruto was responsible for developing a successful hollow platinum filament. The platinum filament was treated with graphite in a hydrocarbon atmosphere. Cruto was often dubbed the Italian Edison. Armed with this information, I?m not positive if this lamp employs this type of filament. Also, I?m unsure of the exact date it was made. Interestingly, the bulb is fitted with a Heisler type base and has ?Cruto? deeply stamped in the brass. The base is filled with plaster and no other markings appear on the bulb. If anyone can provide more information on this old timer, I would like to learn more about Cruto and his company. I would also like to know if the bulb was made in Italy. This particular example was located in the Netherlands.
