Care of All Light bulb Collectors,
I have read the message board dealing with vintage light bulbs damaged in the mail that were not packed properly. I believe there is a way to prevent the vibration of the bulbs and fracturing. Last year I had this happen to a newly aquired collection. I have instructed the sender to pack in cotton wadding and send in a fairly large box. He was nice, he sent a me a few free ones extra in the same box. I recieved the box in the mail and heard crackling glass "Oh my goodness" I rushed home and opened the box, to my surprise three bulbs were rattling together. They were packed very loosely and only a 1920 Mazda tan bulb was broken, My 1915 Projector bulb was ok and a 1930s GE bulb was intact. As of now I am working on a prototype box, Method of sending etc. As a packaging specialist I will stop this destruction to our fragile, but bright history!" A special box shall be available by Sept. 15, 2003.
