Bulb Heaters
« on: September 17, 2001, 12:32:00 pm »
I am restoring a "sausage" style bulb heater
fireplace insert for a client. I have no info on the manufaucturer and the only lettering on it ?is "pat'd"

Who can help me out there with info on this item. I have found other bulb heaters by GE
from a 1919 catalog page.

Obviously, the bulbs will be expensive but I am looking to purchase what I can find.

Thanks,

MSB

I know the bulbs you are referring to- however offhand I don`t know any places that might sell any. I`m fairly certain they aren`t made today, and if they are- modern ones will look different so obviously you want the genuine vintage article. Well the only place I can suggest is Ebay- search for "Bulb Heater", "Sausage Heater" and obvious variations. They turn up there now and then, but they are very popular and I`ve seen them sell for oer $50 a couple of times. But if you`re willing to pay that much, stick around- keep looking there for long enough (but hopefully not that long   ) and you`ll find one.

Alternatively, is there anyone here who has one for sale, or knows a local antique store that has one- and would be willing to help out? Post here and make yourself known if you do!

Best of luck in your search.

Hey Guys !
I did happen to see an entire heater for sale with bulbs on the AFCA Buy-Sell-Trade board for a very reasonable price as I recall.
That's http://www.fancollectors.org
It was several weeks ago I'm sure (or more)
so I don't know If it's still there.

Good Luck !

Email Play Things of Past, a dealer of vintage radio parts, at gbsptop@aol.com  I think Gary may have a GE luminous heater for sale and some spare bulbs. . .
