Hey Bob,

What did the appraiser say about the bulb?  Was he/she aware that such bulbs are collectible?  What was the appraised value?  I'm curious to know the dialog, I?ve been waiting for one to pop up on there too ? I missed it!

Hey Tim,
I think the appraised value was $3,000 to $5,000. The appraiser knew about the bulb and explained in detail. The guy who brought it in found it in his garage !

The bulb was mounted in a display case
with a inscription that said it had been
presented by Thomas Edison. The owner believed it had been kept on display in
a store where he worked and when the store
closed, it asked if he could have it. The
Edison presentation added to its antique
value.

Hi Bob,

Two or three years ago I brought an 1888 Swan bulb w/base socket to the Antique Roadshow when they came to Providence RI.  The appraisor there said it could be worth upwards of $100.00!  I figured he didn't know what he was talking about and haven't watched the show much since.  Where were they when the bulb got appraised?  The Antique Roadshow is repeated alot around here and I would like to try and catch it.  Thanks, Tim

I think it was in San Diego....or one of those California "San-Something" towns...
they'll show it again sometime this summer when they start showing re-runs....I hope !
the bad thing was that I was going to tape it......I forgot......
