Title: platinum lead-in wires
Post by: staticcling on August 06, 2002, 05:58:00 am
Howdy all...i'm wondering about the diameter of the platinum lead-in wires typically used in the days before Dumet...I would be greatly indebted to anyone who owns both an antique bulb and a pair of callipers...
    Thanks much.

According to an article by Marshall in the J. Franklin Institute, in 1881 the platinum wire diameter was 0.012-inch. About 1889 the wire size was reduced to 0.010-inch.
