Extra Charges on Lamps
« on: August 25, 2000, 11:22:00 pm »
It might be of interest to collectors to get some idea of the extra cost that lamp features commanded. In a February 1, 1910 sheet put out by National Electric Lamp Association we can determine some of these figures. Let's consider a common 16 cp lamp of 100 to 130 volts. It was listed at $0.096. The extra charge for frosting was $0.012. If superficial coloring was asked for the cost rose by 25%. Letter etching cost $0.002. Various base costs, other than the Edison, were: T-H, combination bases, Westinghouse and Edi-Swan: $0.014; U.S., B.S, Hawkeye, Mather and Schaefer: $0.024.

Thanks again Ed. I have an early Eliot Lewis Electric Co. Catalog that lists a myriad of options as-well. Has anyone out there come across any of those nice "custom" lamps ?
