can someone identify this interesting bulb for me ?

 it is marked AUSTRIA  116V16C. GOT AS A GIFT FROM GRANDMA AND  I HAVE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 40 YEARS .SHE HAD IT FOR A LONG TIME BEFORE THAT. IT MAKES A BLU ARC TYPE LIGHT. I ASSUME USING IT WILL WEAR IT OUT. WHAT IS THE LIFESPAN ?
