Title: Handheld Light

Hi All,
Im new Berne is the name hi!  I have a handheld light for the car it plugs into the 12V supply but now its not working?  Im now troublshooting the issue and need to know how do I test the bulb ( 12v kpr 0.5amp ) and how do I test the adapter that fits into the 12v dc supply ( for the rec I took it apart and all connections look good )?

All other parts look ok, all good advice welcome.

The bulb may be tested by connecting it directly to a 6 volt lantern battery or a 9 volt transistor battery, connect one terminal to the side of the bulb and one to the base.
If you dont have a suitable battery then it is probably cheaper simply to try a new bulb, they are cheap, but not a common rating.

I doubt that anything has gone wrong with the "adaptor" since it is a simple plug, with nothing to go wrong apart the connections which you have checked.

Hi Adam,

Many thanks for the reply, great tipp on testing the bulb and Yes the bulb is working grand, I took a look at some images on google of my adapter and Im missing one metal connection from one side of my adapter, so a new one is pending, I am going to try to solder a new adapter to the existing lamp lead.
