Title: Dual Hairpin Filaments ?

There are more varieties and types of dual
filament lamps than I thought. I don't have any with in those types of bulbs !

Those are interesting !

Hey, I nabbed another dual hairpin bulb
a few weeks back at a mall. Someone had it stuck it in the socket of a home-made Mason-Jar lamp. For $20 I got all of it. My Dear Sister ended up with the mason lamp, and I got another bulb for a decent price !

Post by: on June 03, 2000, 04:49:00 pm: 1886 500CP Factory Westinghouse Lamp with Dual Hairpin filaments.Lamp has a very heavy couragated brass sleeve in the base to absorb the heat like a heat sink does to keep the heat from this very large bulb to travel up into the envelopeof the lamp. The lamp is stamped in raised letters around the perimiter of the base "Westinghouse Company". This lamp was also manufactured by the Sawyer-Man lamp company and they appear to be exactly the same except for the name is maked different.This is the largest pre 1900 dual hairpin filament lamp I have ever seen.Sorry the picture is not so good, lamp is not so dark as it appears. Both filaments are intact.

About three years ago at one of the larger antique radio gatherings I came across an identical one only to discover I missed it by about 5 minutes even though I arrived at 6:00am! The guy passed me with it as I was walking in (http://www.bulbcollector.com/ubb/mad.gif) I bet it sold cheap too. Anyway I did get a chance to pick it up and examine it - the glass base was unlike anything I had ever seen before - very cool!

Post by: on June 04, 2000, 06:42:00 pm: I actually have 2 of these. One of them is marked Westinghouse and the other that is exactly identical except it says Sawyer-Man. I have a full page advertisement for these from a 1886 Electrical World Journal and it shows them in the original fixture/shade combo. Oh how would I love to get my hands on one of those babies.There is this piece of heavy corragated brass or copper in the base of this lamp that must be some type of heat sink for such a large Candle Power Lamp. Tim was the one you seen marked Sawyer-Man or Westinghouse?
