Title: 100 year old Edison generator- picture.
Post by: Chris W. Millinship on February 18, 2001, 03:08:00 pm
Don`t ask how I stumbled accross this picture cos I`m not sure, but basically I was aimlessly wandering round the Internet last night and found this picture which I`m sure is of interest to some of you Edison fans....

It`s located somewhere in the Penn State University and that`s about all I know. Might just even still be there, I see no reason why not, though it`s certainly not used any more!

Just thought it looked kind of interesting to see...

Thanks for the photo Chris.

Here is my little 1.5 KW Edison General Electric dynamo serial #500. Also shown in the background is an original quotation from Edison GE. I hope to hook this one up and make DC electricity one day soon.

This dynamo cames from the Henry Ford Museum when they sold off their redundant material fifteen years ago.

I sent an e-mail to one of the professors at Penn State about the first photo. Here is the status of this large dynamo:

"Yes, that generator is in EE West.  It is not for sale, however.  We have plans to refurbish it and display it in one of our buildings. Supposedly, this generator came from one of Edison's shops."
