Title: Odd DeForest tube, what is it?
Post by: Tim on June 02, 2000, 08:43:00 pm
Here's an odd tube with "de Forest" in script lettering, and "Sample Audion, not for resale. Jun. 9th, 1931" stamped on the base. I'm hoping another tube collector can provide more information on this one for me. Looks very similar to an 872 mercury rectifier - maybe this is a developmental tube??? Any information appreciated on this one........

This tube sure looks like a rectifier of some type.  If it has a filament and a large anode it may be a higher voltage variant of a "Tungar" rectifier bulb.  Sorry I can't be of more help.
