Cost: $2.00
This one has green and orange(?) biscuits, with functional red tube.
Condition: Appears to have been operated sideways as it is melted one way. does not appear to be from use of fire retardants.

Can?t beat that price!
Here?s one that I recently picked up. It?s a Paramount and my first with an oil filled vial. The ?chunks? that you see inside the vial are small pieces of pumice used to induce the bubbling action.

Great find tim! There's a chunk of pumice in mine as well, under the glass slug. When lit, I get small to large bubbles from under the slug.
Interesting story to this find
I was in a fleamarket over in the next town, as I usually do on my way back home from there. I was about to leave for home when one of the owners came in with a box of stuff. Just as I had walked past, I noticed a red tip from something, Asking if I could look at it, she handed it to me. The original price tag was $5.50, but being a regular in that store, she let me have it for $2.00. Good deal to me for this find.

I'm I right in thinking that Modern Bubblers don't have this Pumice in them? You see I've asked my Freind to get me another set of Bubblers this season and was wondering on this.

I thought that only the "oilers" had the bits of pumice in them, and the methylene chloride vials had another substance stuck in the bottom of the tube used to aid in the bubbling action. Maybe I'm wrong though as I am just beginning to learn more about these old lights.? Since I have received this bubble light, I have been researching it more, mainly through the bubble light identification page on http://www.oldchristmaslights.com? My knowledge is still pretty limited...
When lit, I get small to large bubbles from under the slug.
You gotta love that distinctive sound of a glass slugger bubbling away.? Mine are quite noisy!

Yes I think you are right re Oilers, Will have to have a look at my set... Well just another excuse to get them out :-D.... I've only just got into bubblers as I can't get them in here in UK... So I'm just taking what my freind can send me...

in traditional bubble lights from NOMA i believe that they used salt and/or sugar as these do not disolve in Methylene Chloride. in the royal bubble lights they used fine sand.

Here are some close-up pictures of a vintage Noma methylene chloride vial showing the substance in the bottom of the vial for your reference. In the first picture you will notice the glass slug that was previously mentioned.
