Vintage slide projector - unknown bulb
« on: July 03, 2004, 09:27:00 am »
I need to locate a replacement bulb for my 'Cabin AutoAce N24' slide projector which I have owned for nearly 40 years.  The original bulb has disappeared but is described as 240 V 150 watt (4 pin, it appears, dimensions 36 mm x 24 mm recorded on the rating plate).  A slightly different model, by the same manufacturer, has a bulb marked "Sylvania - made in Japan SYL 212".  Can anyone advise, please?

hello, I found the same problem a few years back and recorded the details as you have of the lamp and i searched a few places and found that Electrical surplus stores had a wide range of old projector lamps, im not sure if you have these types of stores where you are but its worth a try.

Hi Jeremy,

The SYL-212 is still being manufactured by Sylvania Europe - but not easy to find today!  In USA market it is better known as a type CYN, CFC or A1/212 and you may find it under those names in some special photo lamp distributors.

If you get nowhere, contact the Sylvania HQ at the address below and I am sure they could put you in touch with a wholesaler who recently stocked up on lamps of this type.
