Old Hygrade Light Bulb -- Any information?
« on: August 05, 2005, 07:36:42 pm »
Hello All.

I have an old Hygrade light bulb which I don't know anything about. Could someone tell me when it was made, whether its rare or common, and how much it might be worth.

Tere,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your pictures.? A brief history of Hygrade is documented here:

http://www.sylvania.com/AboutUs/ExploreOurCompany/HowWeBegan/

In general terms, the bulb you have is known as a drawn tungsten filament type.? It was most likely made between 1911 and 1920.? Such bulbs are fairly common among collectors and they don’t hold much value, perhaps around $10-$15 if still working.? Since your bulb has an original paper label from a company with humble roots, it may appeal a little more to the right collector interested in such history.

Thanks again for sharing.
