Title: My website is gone!
Post by: Yulelights76 on August 16, 2011, 10:03:21 am
Since early august my website, "The Yule Lights collection, has been offline. I am having a problem with
my internet service provider. They used to let subscribers put up a free website included with their internet service.
The subscription was just renewed in July, so there should be no problem. When you go to the site you get
the dreaded 404 not found error. I got through to their tech support after a week of trying and they
said they cleared out a lot of old websites that weren't maintained. Apparently that included mine.
I can't even connect to the server to restore the site. I suspect they want me to buy their paid web
hosting.
Right now looking at restoring my site as a stand alone website, and getting a new Internet Service Provider.
Now is not a good time for me since I'll be out of work by Thanksgiving. Stay tuned.
Update 09/06/11
Checking out various website hosting providers to find the best deal. Need fixed price plan so I don't have to worry about cost going up if traffic increases. Will try to get the site back up before Christmas. I have domain name yulelights.com registered.
I see there are lots of providers out there and need one that supports front page extensions since I'm using Microsoft expression web.
By the way the email link still works.
Tim or any of the other webmasters - any suggestions?

I have good news to report. The Yule Lights collection is now back online with a new hosting service.
The new link is  http://yulelights.com or http://www.yulelights.com
So after being down for 2 months, my site is ready for the Christmas season. I have 10 GB of space and unlimited bandwidth so expect to see more videos.

Ben surfing the net, and just found out your website is back on line.  I'm so thrilled, as it is one of the better websites dedicated to Christmas lights.  Welcome back to the net.

While the Yulelights website is back online, I just discovered that http://www.christmaslights.ca is off, and I was online with it just last evening!  Does anybody know what happened, and if it will be back online?  I hope so.
