Title: Please help me identify these bulbs from my father's house.
Post by: Green_Witch on August 10, 2008, 11:44:32 am
Whilst clearing out my father's house, (he's gone into a care home), I came across a box of rather elderly looking bulbs that I can vaguely remember seeing as a child. I bought a couple home with me and am hoping that someone here can tell me:

A: What they are and how old they are?

B: If they're actually worth anything?

I hate to sound materialistic BUT I need to generate as much money as possible from his home and contents to enable him to remain in the care home where he is now living.

Anyway...the bulbs:

This state that it is made by 'Phillips':

Here it is burning:

This second one state that it is a 'Siemens Neon':

Here it is alight (pardon the wobbly pic):

Any help anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting the pictures.  Both of these are general purpose neon indicator lamps and probably date between the 1930s and 1950s.  The Siemens is less common, while the Philips is relatively common.  I collect these bulbs and might be interested in the Siemens bulb.  You can contact me  (http://bulbcollector.com/contact.html) here to discuss this more.
