Can Anyone Date New York Edison Pin?
« on: November 26, 2000, 01:08:00 am »
Here's a pin I picked up recently -- it attracted me immediately because of the bulb in the middle.  Around the bulb, inside the borders of a six-pointed star, are "TRUTH FRIENDSHIP HONOR *** 'N OF EMPL'S N.Y.E. CO."  The pin is 5/8" across and was made by Standard Emblem Co. in Providence, Rhode Island.

There's no question that this represents the New York Edison Company, which seems to have been formed about 1882, but it might not have been big and organized enough to have an employee association until 1900 or so.  Any information appreciated.

(Hey Tim, what's with your board -- have you got a naughty word filter?  I just tried to edit the words on the pin as shown above.  Where the three *** are should be the word A S S (no spaces) but the board keeps sticking the *** in :-) ***, ***, ***!  So there!
