I have just bought some NOS vintageChristmas lights from a shop that was closing down.
A set of 10 outdoor lantern style plastic lights. Parallel wired for mains operation, each lamp 240 volt SES 15 watt. These are "Lampways" branded but almost identical lights were sold under several names.
I remember these from back in the day and they were not really that impressive for the purchase cost, cost of replacement lamps, and a total loading of 150 watts. The dull yellow light from a pygmy bulb made the white and yellow lanterns look almost the same, and blue and green seem to be hardly lit.
I propose to fit modern LED lamps, warm white in the red and yellow lanterns and daylight lamps in the white, blue and green lanterns.
That should light all colours brightly and reduce the loading from 150 watts per string to 20 watts !
